Les Yeux du Monde — French for 'the eyes of the world' — is a distinguished fine art gallery in Charlottesville, Virginia, representing a roster of more than 50 regional and national artists working in painting, sculpture, printmaking, and more. Founded approximately in 1995, the gallery has become a cornerstone of the Charlottesville arts scene, with deep ties to the University of Virginia community and a track record of presenting both emerging and established voices.
The gallery's home is itself a work of art: a striking corten steel and glass block contemporary structure designed by celebrated architect W.G. Clark, whose recent recognition with the Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters affirms his singular contribution to architecture. The building offers spectacular views of Charlottesville and the Blue Ridge Mountains, making a visit as much an architectural experience as an artistic one.
LYDM maintains an active exhibition schedule of solo and group shows throughout the year, featuring nationally collected artists such as Russ Warren — whose work has appeared in the Venice Biennale, the Whitney Biennial, and collections including the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts — alongside sculptors, painters, and printmakers from across the country. The gallery is open Thursday through Sunday, 1–5 p.m., and welcomes appointments outside regular hours.
