Matches held on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month, May through September. Start times vary by sunset; no fixed open/close hours. Grounds open for lawn seating.
Blue Rock Polo Arena brings the excitement of arena polo to the heart of Rappahannock County, nestled against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Washington, Virginia. Operated by Liberty Hall Polo Club, the arena hosts a summer series of matches from May through September, scheduled on the first and third Fridays of each month. Match times are set by sunset since the arena is unlit, and every evening opens with a traditional Presentation of the Colors, mounted by Liberty Hall youth polo players and fox hunters.
Arena polo at Blue Rock is fast-paced and accessible — whether you're a lifelong equestrian or a first-time spectator, the action unfolds right at the rail. Each match night typically features two games, and admission is entirely free. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket and settle in for the show. Reserved tailgating spaces are available for sponsors and seasonal patrons who want a more established game-day setup.
The on-site Polo Bar provides drinks, and food can be ordered for delivery to the arena. After the match, the evening continues at the Blue Rock Pub. More than just polo, Blue Rock is a community gathering place for local families, visiting spectators, young players, and supporters of the sporting life in Rappahannock County. Outside alcohol is not permitted.
